Everyone Is Talking About Losing Weight with Semaglutide Injections: Can They Help Me?

Everyone Is Talking About Losing Weight with Semaglutide Injections: Can They Help Me?

Many are calling semaglutide a revolutionary tool in the battle against obesity, especially when traditional diets and exercise don’t produce lasting results.

Chinyere Eze, PA-C, and our Eze Health Center team provide holistic health and wellness care for individuals in and around Waldorf, Maryland.

Medical weight loss is one of many services we offer to help you achieve your healthiest life. Our program is customized to fit your needs. It includes guidance on nutrition, exercise, and modifying habits that lead to overindulging.

If you need the boost, Chinyere may also recommend semaglutide injections (Ozempic) to help suppress appetite and control cravings. Learn more about how semaglutide works and who can benefit from its use.

Semaglutide basics

Initially developed for treating type 2 diabetes, semaglutide mimics the actions of a naturally occurring hormone glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) secreted in the gut. GLP-1 is critical in blood sugar regulation, digestion, and appetite.

When injected, semaglutide boosts satiety, causing you to feel full with less food and for longer periods. It does this by slowing digestion and keeping blood sugar levels stable.

Various research studies, including this study published in the New England Journal of Medicine, validate semaglutide’s effectiveness in supporting weight loss.

When combined with a lower-calorie diet and routine exercise, research indicates that people using semaglutide can lose up to 6% of their total body weight in three months and up to 11% in six months.

Is semaglutide a good fit for me?

During your initial weight-loss evaluation at Eze Health Center, we’ll carefully assess your medical history, current health status, and weight-loss goals to help determine if you’re a good candidate for semaglutide.

When used for weight loss, semaglutide is typically prescribed for individuals with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or above. We may also consider semaglutide for individuals with a BMI of 27 or above who have weight-related health issues like type 2 diabetes, obstructive sleep apnea, or high blood pressure (hypertension).

Developing a comprehensive weight loss strategy

While semaglutide shows promise for weight loss, it’s most effective when part of a comprehensive weight management and holistic healthcare strategy. This includes a balanced diet, consistent exercise, and addressing psychological or emotional factors contributing to overeating.

That’s why our medical weight-loss program at Eze Health Center is customized to fit your needs. We include ongoing support that helps you shed pounds and maintain your weight loss while optimizing your long-term health and well-being.

Semaglutide may provide the boost you’ve been looking for to finally say goodbye to those extra pounds and hello to a slimmer, healthier you.
